Today’s press conference at Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, New Jersey, to announce which college Jarrett Guarantano would attend in 2016 was a well thought out presentation. Everything from the speech to the video production was well played. You could see in Jarrett’s eyes this wasn’t an easy decision. He kept his final decision from his family until the morning of his announcement. The only other person who knew of his decision was Tennessee’s Head Coach Butch Jones. Coach Jones received the good news Tuesday night. Rutgers’ Head Coach Kyle Flood wasn’t informed until a few hours before the announcement. Still, signing day is a long ways off.

Jarrett said, “I will never stop listening to Rutgers. I love the place and it came down to my final two. We’ll see in the future, but right now, I’m a Tennessee Vol.”

One thing’s for sure: Jarrett’s father James will continue to play a major role up until the ink dries on the Letter of Intent.

James stated, “If you had asked me a week ago or three days ago if I knew it was Tennessee, I would have obviously said no. I thought they were right there, but was Rutgers there, too.”

Today, the announcement was all Tennessee, but clearly the door was left open.
